AT BOOKS ON THE BOSQUE

The sa国际传媒官网网页入口 bookstore is hosting three authors Sunday, May 31.

At noon, Rebecca Byron will chat about two books in her 鈥淪anguis Amantium鈥 series. Book 1, 鈥淎 Memory Not Mine,鈥 is billed as a paranormal romance that blends the eerie with the emotional. Book 2, 鈥淢emory of the Blood Moon,鈥 is about Mira Garvie, who thought love would be the hardest truth she鈥檇 have to confront. But when an enchanted ruby awakens memories of a life lived 鈥 and lost 鈥 beneath a blood-red moon, Mira is drawn deep into the magic of her Garvie bloodline.

At 3 p.m. two authors will be in conversation and each will present their recent books 鈥 both biographies. One author is David Farmer, who will discuss 鈥淛ack Rittenhouse: A Western Literary Life.鈥 In 1946 Rittenhouse started his own publishing venture, Stagecoach Press, launching it with 鈥淎 Guide Book to Highway 66.鈥 Soon he became known as an authority on the Main Street of America. In all, he published 50 Stagecoach Press titles over 21 years.

Rittenhouse was also a writer, a printer and a historian of the American West.

Publishers Weekly, a trade publication, called the biography 鈥渁 solid tribute to a celebrated bookman.鈥

Farmer is the former director of the DeGolyer Library at Southern Methodist University.

The other author is Kathryn Jones, who will talk about her book 鈥淭all in the Saddle: The Life of Ben Johnson, Hollywood鈥檚 Real Cowboy.鈥

Johnson was born on an Oklahoma ranch. He learned how to rope cattle before he could read. His horsemanship carried him straight up to Hollywood. Discovered by director John Ford, he became a fixture in many classic Westerns. Among them were 鈥淩io Grande,鈥 鈥淪he Wore a Yellow Ribbon,鈥 鈥淪hane,鈥 鈥淐heyenne Autumn鈥 and 鈥淭he Wild Bunch.鈥

Johnson won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his performance in 鈥淭he Last Picture Show.鈥 He is believed to be the only man to win an Academy Award and a world rodeo championship.

Johnson was also a film stuntman and a TV actor.

Books on the Bosque is located at 6261 Riverside Plaza Lane NW.
