North Rim of Grand Canyon campground reopens
First-come, first-serve sites are available starting June 1; Recreation.gov reservations start for June 2
The campground at the reopened on June 1, for the first time since the Dragon Bravo Fire in 2025 destroyed its historic lodge.
"We're excited to welcome campers back to the North Rim Campground beginning Monday, June 1, 2026," said the Grand Canyon National Park Facebook page in a post.
"From June 1鈥5, campsites will be available on a walk-in, first-come, first-served basis, with check-in and payment available at the adjacent Aramark General Store from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m."
Online reservations through Recreation.gov are available as of Monday, June 2, for sites starting on Tuesday. Five campsites will be available for walk-in camping throughout June, it said.
Many buildings on the North Rim were completely razed by the fire including the historic lodge and bathrooms and the area was closed to all visitors.
"Nestled among ponderosa pines and aspens at 8,200 feet, the North Rim Campground offers a peaceful and scenic basecamp for exploring the North Rim's trails, viewpoints, and spectacular canyon vistas," according to the NPS web site.
Some things to know according to the park service:
Potable water is not available, but is available for purchase at the general store.
Portable toilets are available.
Showers will remain closed for the 2026 season.

The lodge inside the park at the North Rim will not be open during the 2026 season, according to the NPS.
