Orbit voted best minor league mascot for 2nd year in a row

Isotopes mascot was one of 20 chosen by panel of USA TODAY 10Best editors to participate in fan-vote

On Wednesday, USA TODAY announced that Orbit, the Isotopes loveable mascot, has won the 10Best Readers鈥 Choice Award for Best Minor League Baseball Mascot for the second-straight year, as voted on by fans in a nationwide contest.

Orbit was one of 20 Minor League Baseball mascots chosen by a panel of experts and USA TODAY 10Best editors to participate in the contest. Fans voted for their favorite mascot from Feb. 16 through March 16.

鈥淭hanks to all of the fans for spreading the love and getting folks from all across the country to vote for me,鈥 Isotopes mascot Orbit wrote in a statement. 鈥淚 love being the face of the Isotopes franchise and it鈥檚 an honor to represent the best fans in the country.鈥

Orbit鈥檚 Birthday celebration is scheduled for June 26 at 6:35 p.m. when the Isotopes take on Salt Lake. The first 2,000 fans will receive an Orbit Hat.

The Isotopes home opener is March 31 at Isotopes Park. First pitch is at 6:35 p.m. against the Reno Aces.
