Sunward Federal Credit Union continues expansion with new South Valley location

Sunward Federal Credit Union is opening a new location in sa国际传媒官网网页入口鈥檚 South Valley next month, its 17th branch overall and 10th in the sa国际传媒官网网页入口 metro area.

The location will open at the intersection of Rio Bravo and Isleta on Nov. 3, company officials announced Tuesday. The branch will have bilingual staff.

Last year, Sunward changed its name from Sandia Laboratory Federal Credit Union and announced plans to grow its operations, which include locations across New Mexico, California and Colorado.

In the past year, Sunward opened a new location on Rio Grande Boulevard, another in Durango, Colorado, and acquired two sa国际传媒官网网页入口 locations of a Utah-based credit union. In addition to the South Valley location, Sunward is planning another branch on sa国际传媒官网网页入口鈥檚 West Side.

Sunward becomes the latest local financial institution to expand in the area, following U.S. Eagle Federal Credit Union, which opened its branch at 3801 Isleta SW in April 2024.

Sunward serves more than 170,000 members and manages around $4.3 billion in assets, according to a news release. The credit union was founded in 1948 by employees at Sandia National Laboratories.
