A place of inclusivity: Folk rock duo Ryanhood brings its winter tour to Fusion 708, Tumbleroot
Arizona-based duo Ryanhood brings its holiday show to Santa Fe and sa国际传媒官网网页入口 for two nights.
Ryan Green is becoming well versed in the art of balancing tasks.
He also thinks a lot in advance 鈥 especially when it鈥檚 time to go on tour.
鈥淲ith the winter holiday shows, it keeps us busy,鈥 he says. 鈥淏ecause the current tour is holiday centric, it leans towards our album 鈥極n Christmas.鈥欌
Green is on half of Ryanhood. Cameron Hood rounds out the duo. Ryanhood will make a stop in New Mexico for two shows.
The first is at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at Fusion 708 in sa国际传媒官网网页入口. The next night, the duo travels to Santa Fe for a performance at Tumbleroot Brewery & Distillery.
Ryanhood formed 20 years ago in Boston and is currently based out of Tucson.
The duo has released seven full-length albums to date.
Green says the duo鈥檚 winter shows have become a holiday tradition over the years.
鈥淲e have new stories and the set list changes,鈥 Green says. 鈥淎 lot of the material comes from 鈥極n Christmas,鈥 but we add in new songs each year.鈥
Green says audiences want to hear the Christmas classics, which the duo does play.
鈥淲e want it to have a freshness to it,鈥 he says.
Months ago, Green and Hood began planning logistics for the tour.
鈥淲e map it out and think about what if we were in the audience,鈥 he says. 鈥淲hat would we want to see again? That鈥檚 the beauty of what we do. We are able to create an atmosphere within the show where people can tap into their holiday memories.鈥
Green also knows that everyone has a different experience with the holidays, and Ryanhood is aware of it.
鈥淗olidays aren鈥檛 fun for everyone,鈥 he says. 鈥淭his is why we try to keep the entire show flow as smoothly as possible. We want to create new memories with each audience. That鈥檚 something to build on. It鈥檚 about what Christmas and the holidays mean to you.鈥
Green says as the duo continues in music, many of the songs Ryanhood has released have taken on new meaning.
鈥淭here are certain songs that have a new feeling about them,鈥 Green says. 鈥淲e鈥檙e going to have some songs from records that we haven鈥檛 played in awhile. The entire show has an arc and we鈥檙e happy to share our stories. We want it to make the performances relatable to the audience and, in return, want the audience to enjoy a new holiday memory.鈥
