AT BOOKS ON THE BOSQUE
Award-winning sa国际传媒官网网页入口 author Minrose Gwin will be in conversation with Lynn Miller about Gwin鈥檚 new novel 鈥淏eautiful Dreamers鈥 at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, at Books on the Bosque.
The year is 1953 and the story is about Memory 鈥淢em鈥 Feather, a precocious teenager and her recently divorced mother Virginia, who have moved back to the Mississippi Gulf Coast community of Belle Cote. They鈥檙e welcomed by Virginia鈥檚 childhood friend Mac McFadden, whose energy boosts Virginia鈥檚 spirits. The three become a close, though unconventional, family.
Enter the unscrupulous though charismatic Tony Amato, who sets in motion events that shatter family bonds and change Mem鈥檚 life.
Award-winning author Minrose Gwin coming to Books on the Bosque
Gwin grew up in Tupelo, Mississippi.
She is also the author of the novels 鈥淭he Queen of Palmyra,鈥 a Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers pick; 鈥淭he Accidentals,鈥 which received the 2020 Mississippi Institute for Arts and Letters Award in fiction; and 鈥淧romise,鈥 which was shortlisted for the Willie Morris Award in Southern Literature.

AT ABQ MAIN LIBRARY
Dan Flores gives the 5th annual Leopold Lecture at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at the sa国际传媒官网网页入口 Main Library Auditorium. The title of his lecture is 鈥淕olden-Eyed Lightning Rod: A Wolf Story.鈥
The lecture draws inspiration from Flores鈥 award-winning book 鈥淲ild New World: The Epic Story of Animals and People in North America.鈥 The lecture will be followed by a question and answer session and a book signing.
Tickets are $10, plus fees, and are available in advance at .
Flores is a Santa Fe area resident.

AUTHOR IN SANTA FE AND ALBUQUERQUE
Pam Houston will read from and sign copies of her new book 鈥淲ithout Exception: Reclaiming Abortion, Personhood, and Freedom鈥 at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, at Collected Works in Santa Fe, and at 6 pm. Wednesday, Sept. 4, at Bookworks.
In the book, Houston shines a light on the linked histories of abortion in the United States and in her own life during the decades when Roe v. Wade was the law of the land.
Houston lives near the headwaters of the Rio Grande in southern Colorado.

NEVADA AUTHOR鈥橲 EVENTS IN ABQ
Fiction writer Richard Becker will autograph copies of his books 鈥淭hird Wheel鈥 and 鈥淔ifty States鈥 from 4-6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at Barnes & Noble in Coronado Center, 6600 Menaul Blvd. NE; and from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday, Sept. 7, at Page 1 Books, 5850 Eubank Blvd. NE.
鈥淭hird Wheel鈥 is described as a coming-of-age literary thriller, and 鈥淔ifty States鈥 is a collection of short stories that shows how perception shapes reality.
Becker is a resident of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Valerie Santillanes will read from and sign copies of her debut novel, 鈥淟ittle Flowers,鈥 from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at Treasure House Books & Gifts. The historical novel is set in Old Town, where the author grew up.
