The local music scene is as strong as ever.

Just ask Barney Lopez.

Lopez helps put together the annual 鈥淣ight of the Living Cover Bands鈥 series, which sees local bands dress up and perform as another performer.

The series is in its 16th year and takes place Friday-Sunday through Oct. 29, at Launchpad.

鈥(Launchpad owner) Joe Anderson came up with the name,鈥 Lopez says. 鈥淭he event has grown from the first year.鈥

This year鈥檚 series will see more than 130 local bands performing 20-minute sets each night at Launchpad.

鈥淭his year, we added Sunday to the mix, and it allowed us to make some of the shows all ages,鈥 Lopez says. 鈥淏ecause there are all ages shows, we tried to book some younger bands to get to perform inside the Launchpad. We鈥檙e trying to make this accessible to a younger community.鈥

On Friday, Oct. 13, six bands will take the stage, Lopez says.

The lineup includes: No Manners as Against Me!, Miserable Things as INXS, Dust City Opera as Muse, Ashes of Jupiter as Stone Temple Pilots, Spacejunk as Black Sabbath and Amped Owl Drive as Elvis Presley.
