Discover the heart of a village during this year鈥檚 Questa Art Tour.

鈥淧art of what we do on the tour is really try to highlight what Questa is in everybody鈥檚 hearts,鈥� Alberta Bouyer, chair of the Questa Creative Council, said, 鈥渢hat鈥檚 not necessarily so visible when you鈥檙e just driving through.鈥�

Visitors can take their time to exploring the village and art during the 10th annual Questa Art Tour on Saturday, Aug. 9, and Sunday, Aug. 10.

Sandra Harrington, Questa resident and artist in the tour, has participated every year and has seen the tour grow over the last decade.

鈥淭here was a lot of skepticism and nobody really knew whether it would stick or whether it would be a good turnout,鈥� Harrington said. 鈥淎nd it鈥檚 just amazing how many people come from sa国际传媒官网网页入口 and Santa Fe and Taos to little Questa and every year it鈥檚 got a little bit better.鈥�

The tour started in 2014, with a break during COVID, when the village was looking for a way to bring people in after the local mine closed down.

鈥淲hen we started the art tour, we just really wanted to keep it the whole picture, not just have newcomer artists,鈥� Bouyer said. 鈥淲e wanted to make sure that it was diverse and had traditional arts as well as very contemporary arts.鈥�

There will be 21 stops, featuring more than 50 artists on the nearly 20-mile tour route for the tour.

鈥淓veryone that makes things wants somebody to look at them and hopefully appreciate them and even purchase them,鈥� Harrington said.

Bouyer said she hopes that those who have not been before will come to see a new area of the state.

鈥淲e do get visitors up from sa国际传媒官网网页入口 ... there鈥檚 a lot of newcomers to the area that haven鈥檛 explored yet,鈥� Bouyer said.

Harrington said people are drawn to the town for its beauty and the kindness of its community.

鈥淚 guess what would draw people here would be the intrigue of the wildness and the affordability,鈥� Harrington said. 鈥淏ut I think people stay, because it鈥檚 a nice place to live.鈥�

As the tour reaches a decade, Bouyer says she hopes that over the next decade it will stay true to its mission.

鈥淚 hope it keeps representing the best of Questa and just keeps building community,鈥� Bouyer said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 been a really good venue for people getting to know their neighbors and getting to respect what their neighbors bring to the big picture.鈥�
