I was under the misconception that roses are hard to grow in New Mexico. But my three backyard rose bushes prove I鈥檓 as close to a green thumb as I鈥檒l ever be. You can visit the 鈥淎 Rainbow of Roses鈥� show this weekend. Or plant yourself at one of these other events.

Quintessence: A Community of Singers is performing 鈥淧op Tarts!,鈥� its final concert of the 2024-25 season, at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 18. Wheel fun
The 39th Santa Fe Century gets rolling on Saturday, May 17, and Sunday, May 18, with a series of rides. On Saturday, riders can participate in the Gravel贸n and Gravelito rides, and Sunday features the Gran Fondo and Century, and Medio Fondo and Half Century. The New Mexico Council of Car Clubs is 鈥淐elebrating Lowriders鈥� at the sa国际传媒官网网页入口 Museum from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, May 18. The event is free to the public and will feature antique and classic cars, trucks, lowriders and more. The sa国际传媒官网网页入口 Museum is located at 2000 Mountain Road NW.

Fort Selden Historic Site is hosting a discussion and demonstration of outdoor survival techniques inspired by Gary Paulsen鈥檚 鈥淗atchet鈥� from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, May 17. Passages from the book will be read, and a ranger will discuss the challenges soldiers at the fort faced. Admission is $5 at , and free for qualifying individuals. The historic site is located at 1280 Fort Selden Road, Radium Springs.
Celebrating heritage
Casa San Ysidro and the Corrales Historical Society are hosting Heritage Day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 17. The event will feature horno bread and pies, Acoma Enchanted Dancers, music from Lara Manzanares, an artist's market and more. Casa San Ysidro is located at 973 Old Church Road, Corrales.
Swim on in
