CLOVIS 鈥 A 17-year-old boy and his mother were arrested after a domestic violence shooting that injured a 19-year-old woman early Monday morning, according to police.

Officers responded to Plains Regional Medical Center at about 3:22 a.m. Monday after receiving a report of a gunshot victim.

The 19-year-old woman suffered injuries consistent with a bullet grazing the left side of her head and striking her left thumb, police said.

Detectives determined the shooting occurred during a domestic dispute involving the victim and her 17-year-old boyfriend. Investigators said the argument became physical before the juvenile allegedly retrieved a handgun, threatened to kill the victim and fired a single shot, causing her injuries.

The victim also told investigators she was threatened if she reported the incident to law enforcement.

Police located and detained the suspect and his mother, 38-year-old Ruby Outlaw. Investigators executed a search warrant at the residence, but the firearm had not been recovered as of Monday.

The juvenile was arrested and transported to the Juvenile Detention Center in Lovington. He is charged with aggravated battery against a household member, intimidation of a witness and false imprisonment.

Outlaw was arrested and charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and tampering with evidence. She was transported to the Curry County Adult Detention Center.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Clovis Police Department at 575-769-1921. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Tip411 or Curry County Crime Stoppers at 575-763-7000.
