Community tips help police solve Clovis homicide
A man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of another Clovis resident in a church parking lot last week, the Clovis Police Department reported.
Andrew Robles, 41, of Clovis, was taken into custody following an investigation into the death of Daniel Dale Flores, 43, who was shot May 29 in the parking lot of the Church of Christ at 1521 Pile St.
Police said officers responded to the scene at approximately 4:20 p.m. and launched an investigation led by detectives and members of the department's Major Crimes Unit. Investigators ultimately identified Robles as the suspect responsible for the shooting.
Robles was booked into the Curry County Detention Center and is facing charges of first-degree murder, felon in possession of a firearm and tampering with evidence.
During the investigation, detectives also identified an individual who had previously been depicted in photographs released to the public wearing a red shirt. After reviewing surveillance footage and conducting interviews, investigators determined the individual was not present at the time of the shooting.
Police said in a news release to the Journal that no criminal charges will be filed against that person in connection with the case.
Authorities also recovered the firearm believed to have been used in the shooting. Investigators said the weapon's recovery, along with surveillance video, witness statements, forensic evidence and information provided by community members, helped lead to the arrest.
The Clovis Police Department said tips from the public played a significant role in helping detectives identify, locate and apprehend the suspect.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with additional information is encouraged to contact the Clovis Police Department.
