A 21-year-old man is accused of hitting another vehicle, killing its driver, with his pickup in Northwest sa国际传媒官网网页入口.

Jesus Sandoval-Martinez, of sa国际传媒官网网页入口 is charged with vehicular homicide, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident (great bodily harm or death), open container and failure to obey a traffic sign.

Martinez is being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center. It is unclear who his attorney is.

Early Monday morning, the sa国际传媒官网网页入口 Police Department responded to a call of a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Coors and Montano.

According to a criminal complaint filed at Metropolitan Court, a gray Dodge pickup 鈥 driven by a man later identified as Sandoval-Martinez 鈥 was heading north on Coors when he ran a red light and hit two vehicles, one a Tesla and the other a Toyota Corolla.

Police said Martinez then climbed out and fled on foot. Witnesses chased him down before holding him in a Walgreens parking lot until officers arrived.

The complaint states officers later found 鈥渟everal鈥 alcohol containers inside the vehicle.

Two people were sent to a local hospital. One of them, the Tesla driver, died from their injuries, police said.

According to the complaint, Sandoval-Martinez told police through a translator that he drank two beers earlier and had fled from the crash because 鈥渉e was scared and thinks that the witnesses who detained him caused him to have chest pain.鈥

APD spokesman Gilbert Gallegos said Sandoval-Martinez was 鈥渋mpaired to the slightest degree.鈥
