Green thumbs unite!
The Council of sa国际传媒官网网页入口 Garden Clubs is hosting a 鈥淢eet the Clubs鈥 event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 13. Club representatives from the sa国际传媒官网网页入口 African Violet Club, the Cactus & Succulent Society of New Mexico, the High Desert Floral Design Club, the sa国际传媒官网网页入口 Daylily Society and more will be on hand to answer questions. The sa国际传媒官网网页入口 Garden Center is located at 10120 Lomas Blvd. NE.
O jogo bonito
Watch the 鈥淏eautiful Game鈥 at the Santa Fe Railyard Plaza at 7 p.m. Friday, June 12, as the United States takes on Paraguay in the World Cup. DJ Dynamite Sol will be on hand to pump up the crowd. The event is free and you can register at tickets.lensic360.org. Eventgoers can bring chairs to sit on, and there will be food vendors on site. The Santa Fe Railyard Park is located at 1612 Alcaldesa St. in Santa Fe.
Feeling foxy
The Foxy Festival returns to the sa国际传媒官网网页入口 Rail Yards from 3-8:30 p.m. Saturday, June 13. The festival will feature music from Iv贸n Ulibarr铆 & Caf茅 Mocha and Flor de Toloache, poetry from New Mexico Poet Laureate Manuel Gonzalez and Sarita Sol Gonzalez, family and youth activities and more. Admission is $20-$48.01 at thirdsoulevents.com/foxy-festival. The sa国际传媒官网网页入口 Rail Yards are located at 777 First St. SW.
Living history
The Bosque Redondo Memorial at Fort Sumner Historic Site is commemorating the Treaty of 1868 between the U.S. government and the Navajo Nation from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, June 13. The event will include a cultural presentation by Shawn Price (Din茅) and the Dineh Tah鈥 Dancers. Attendees will receive a piece of muslin cloth as a symbolic gift relating to the article in the treaty that granted discretionary funds for the purchase of sheep and cloth. Price will then give a presentation on 鈥100 Years: Route 66 and Tribal Communities of New Mexico.鈥 Admission is $7 at nmhistoricsites.org and free for qualified individuals. Bosque Redondo Memorial is located at 3647 Billy the Kid Road in Fort Sumner.
Summertime sounds
It鈥檚 Summertime in Old Town, a series of free concerts featuring everything from flamenco to blues, reggae to New Mexican favorites. Performances run 7-9 p.m. Fridays, 1-3 p.m. Saturdays with select 7-9 p.m. performances, and 1-3 p.m. Sundays through July 26. On Friday, June 12, Str8 Shot will take the gazebo stage from 7-9 p.m. and Mustang Sally & the Corvettes will perform 1-3 p.m. Sunday, June 14. Latin beat
Latin band Nosotros will be headlining Garden Music at 7 p.m. Friday, June 12. The concert is part of the ABQ BioPark鈥檚 summer concert series. Eventgoers can also learn more about New Mexican Urban Wildlife through the botanic garden鈥檚 discovery stations. Admission is $3.75-$15 at artsandculture.cabq.gov, and free for children 2 and under. The ABQ BioPark Botanic Garden is located at 2601 Central Ave. NW.
Skies above
Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument is hosting a Dark Skies, Bright Stars! event from 7:30-10 p.m. Friday, June 12, at the Ab贸 Unit. There will be a ranger-led tour, daytime solar observations, deep space telescope viewing and a dark sky photography workshop. The event is free. Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument鈥檚 Ab贸 Unit is located at 69 Ruins Road in Mountainair.
