Gunman Alex Trujillo apparently did not know the slain man, Kevin Moore
A Bernalillo County jury has convicted Alex Trujillo in a 2024 fatal shooting during a dispute that prosecutors said began after he threw a rock through a car window near Downtown sa国际传媒官网网页入口.
The 2nd Judicial District Court jury found Trujillo, 21, guilty of second-degree murder and tampering with evidence Friday in the killing of 52-year-old Kevin Moore. The two men apparently did not know each other.
Judge Jennifer Wernersbach has not scheduled Trujillo's sentencing hearing.
Witnesses said Moore had been helping a friend's son repair a flat tire shortly before the killing, according to a criminal complaint filed in Metropolitan Court.
sa国际传媒官网网页入口 police responded to 600 Coal SE, where they found Moore lying on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds at about 2:50 p.m. on June 14, 2024. He died at the scene.
Witnesses who knew Trujillo told police that Trujillo had walked up to the 600 block of Coal SE and threw a rock through a car window, the complaint said.
Moore confronted Trujillo, who drew a handgun and fired four gunshots, fatally striking Moore, witnesses told police. Trujillo then ran east on Coal.
Police interviewed Trujillo's grandmother, who said Trujillo told her he killed a man he did not know because he had "pulled out a knife on him," the complaint said. Police said no knife was found at the scene.
Trujillo was later arrested at a mobile home park in Southeast sa国际传媒官网网页入口.
