The boom is coming to sa国际传媒官网网页入口鈥檚 West Side.

Construction crews will be blasting along Paseo del Norte, between Universe and Unser, as part of storm drainage work on Thursday and Friday, according to Department of Municipal Development spokesperson Dan Mayfield.

He said the stretch of road is scheduled to be closed from noon Thursday until around 5 p.m. on Friday as crews create drainage laterals around Paseo and then repair any damage to the roadway afterward.

In a previous interview, Mayfield said Star Paving Co. of sa国际传媒官网网页入口 hired Dykon Blasting Corp. to do the blasting. Dykon is licensed to use explosives and has experience with similar projects in New Mexico.

During the closure, eastbound travelers will turn off Paseo onto Universe, take Rainbow to Kimmick and turn north to access Paseo on the other side of the construction zone.

The construction and closure are part of the ongoing $62 million Unser and Paseo del Norte widening project, which began in January. When finished, the project will widen the roads to four lanes, install new medians and lighting, add 10-foot multiuse trails and 6-foot bicycle lanes with buffers.
