Herrera was charged in Children鈥檚 Court and charging documents against him were not available in online court records. Estrada was booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center on Thursday.

Officers were dispatched around 3:15 a.m. to a shooting in a parking structure at 2001 Mountain NW, near Old Town, according to a criminal complaint filed in Metropolitan Court.

Police found the 15-year-old girl with an apparent gunshot wound to the head, the complaint states. She was taken to University of New Mexico Hospital.

Officers were told that prior to the shooting, a group of around 40 people 鈥 mostly teens 鈥 had gathered in the parking lot after a house party in Rio Rancho, according to the complaint.

Shortly after 3 a.m., a person fired 鈥渁 volley of seven gunshots, followed by a second volley of 10 rounds, and a third volley of 11 rounds,鈥 according to a Thursday news release from Gilbert Gallegos, spokesperson for the sa国际传媒官网网页入口 Police Department.

Police asked the public to send in cellphone videos and tips, which led to leads, the complaint states. The Rio Rancho Police Department was able to collect license plate information and used that data to identify people who attended the party.

Detectives used ballistic tracking technology, automatic license plate readers and gunfire detection systems to identify Estrada and Herrera as suspects. Detectives further learned that one of the bullets Herrera fired struck the 15-year-old girl as she ran from gunfire, according to the complaint.

Officers connected bullet casings from the scene to one firearm that had been used in 12 separate shootings, according to the complaint. Those nonfatal shootings included three between March 15 and March 22 and three between May 9 and May 18.
