Annie's Soup Kitchen closes after more than five decades in business

Annie鈥檚 Soup Kitchen鈥檚 long history of serving soups, quiches, sandwiches and handmade desserts in sa国际传媒官网网页入口 has come to an end.

Owners of the restaurant, located at 3107 Eubank NE, shared news of the closure on social media a little over a week ago, inviting the sa国际传媒官网网页入口 community to come in for one last meal before Oct. 12, the business鈥 last day of operation.

鈥淭here are so many of you that we consider friends, and we can鈥檛 express enough how grateful we are that you were part of our lives,鈥 the owners wrote in an Oct. 8 Facebook post. 鈥淭hank you for your support throughout the years. We will miss all of you.鈥

Annie鈥檚 Soup Kitchen opened more than half a century ago in 1973, according to the restaurant鈥檚 . It started with simple, country recipes from a woman with a daughter named Annie, the website said.

The business served dishes featuring products made from fresh ingredients daily, including a three-egg omelet with ham and green chile, blueberry pancakes, French onion soup, a classic Reuben sandwich and blackberry crepes.

The business鈥 most recent owners, Marie Elsner and her late husband Martin Elsner, took over in 2007. Elsner was not available for comment.
