Cavender’s Boot City to saddle up first Las Cruces store
The store is slated to open later this year
Cavender’s Boot City is corralling New Mexico’s second biggest city into its Land of Enchantment portfolio.
The retailer, known for its wide selection of Western boots and apparel, announced earlier this month that it will open a new location in Las Cruces. The store is slated to open later this year, likely in the late third quarter or the fourth quarter, according to a Cavender’s spokesperson.
The store, planned for 2350 East Lohman Avenue just off Interstate 25, will fill 22,991 square feet of existing retail space formerly occupied by a Big Lots. The space is connected to a shopping center home to a Burlington, Hobby Lobby and Sprouts Farmers Market.
The Cavender’s spokesperson said a design is in the works for the space, which will be renovated in the coming months. Once open, the store will employ 20 people.
The location, New Mexico’s third Cavender’s, will feature everything from Western hats, shirts, jeans, dresses, belts, work boots and accessories, as well as items from other well-known Western brands such as Ariat and Wrangler. The store will also offer custom services, like hat shaping and boot fitting and stretching.
The Las Cruces plans mark Cavender’s first New Mexico expansion outside of saʴýҳ, where the Western-wear brand has two locations. One opened at 1431-A Mercantile NE in 2014, and the other opened on saʴýҳ’s West Side in May 2025.
“With the strong Western presence in the area, we wanted to give the Las Cruces community someplace to find their Western needs without having to drive to El Paso or saʴýҳ,” the Cavender’s spokesperson said. “We can’t wait for the community to see the new location when it opens.”
