David F. Menicucci to talk about how successfully research, write, publish and market a book at Main Library

David F. Menicucci will provide insights on how to successfully research, write, publish and market a book at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at the Main Library鈥檚 Genealogy Center, 501 Copper Ave. NW.
Menicucci is the sa国际传媒官网网页入口 author of 鈥淭wo Centuries to Freedom: The True Story of One Family鈥檚 Two-Century Migration from Lucca, Italy, to New Mexico and Other American States.鈥�
Menicucci said in a press release that he will also talk about bringing writing projects to fruition.
鈥淓ssentially, I will explain how to write a family history book,鈥� he stated.
The event is free and open to the public.
AT BOOKWORKS
Enrique Lamadrid of sa国际传媒官网网页入口 will talk about his new book 鈥淗earts in Motion, Hearts in Place: The Quest for Querencias on Turtle Island and Abya Yala鈥� at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11. Illustrations are by Jim Vogel, a northern New Mexico resident.
Casa Urraca Press recently published the book. Zach Hively, its publisher, said in an email, it 鈥渇eels a bit like looking at a friend鈥檚 collection of feathers and rocks from their years of hiking. 鈥� (Lamadrid) has picked up information from compadres and textbooks, and he just keeps getting more and more curious about what the birds have to say about this idea of home.鈥�
In the subtitle, Turtle Island is Indigenous peoples鈥� reference to North America and Abya Yala is a phrase in the language of the Guna people of Panama-Colombia that means America. And querencias is Spanish for homelands or places where one feels safe.
Lamadrid is a historian, essayist and poet and is professor emeritus at the University of New Mexico鈥檚 Department of Spanish and Portuguese.
At 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 13, historian Mark Lee Gardner will talk about his new book 鈥淏rothers of the Gun: Wyatt Earp, Doc Holliday and a Reckoning in Tombstone.鈥� A press release said that Earp and Holliday gained immortality because of a 30-second shootout near a livery stable called O.K. Corral. But what isn鈥檛 told is that three years earlier, Holliday saved the life of Earp when he was an assistant city marshal and surrounded by armed, belligerent cowboys.
鈥淏rothers of the Gun,鈥� the press release stated, is the first dual biography of the famed gunfighters and their storied friendship.
Gardner is a recipient of the Frank Waters Award for Literary Excellence.

AT BOOKS ON THE BOSQUE
Michelle Gurule will be in conversation with Georgiann Davis about Gurule鈥檚 memoir 鈥淭hank You, John鈥� at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9.
The memoir is described as 鈥渁 heartfelt, laugh-out-loud tragicomedy of errors based on her time as an unexperienced sugar baby in 2010s Denver.鈥�

AT COLLECTED WORKS
The Santa Fe bookstore will host two author events this week.
At 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, Zeyn Joukhadar will read from and discuss her book 鈥淏oth/And: Essays by Trans and Gender Non-Conforming Writers of Color.鈥� A central theme of the book is queer futurism.
Joukhadar is artist-in-residence at the Santa Fe Art Institute.
At 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12, Reynolds Holding will be in conversation with Judge Martha V谩squez about Holding鈥檚 book 鈥淏etter Judgment: How Three Judges are Bringing Justice Back to the Courts.鈥� V谩squez is one of the three judges the subtitle refers to and is a senior U.S. District Court judge.

Chee Brossy and David Mutschlecner will read from their new poetry collections at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15 at the bookstore, which is located at 3018 Cielo Court, Suite D, in Santa Fe.

Kate Christenson will read from her recent novel 鈥淭he Sacred and the Divine鈥� at 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 9 at SOMOS Salon, 108 Civic Plaza Drive in Taos.
