Dusty Deen

Dusty Deen is no stranger to the film industry.

The sa国际传媒官网网页入口-based animator/filmmaker has chipped away at making a name for himself within the New Mexico film scene for more than a decade.

Working in TV, he wanted to do more animation and made a giant leap.

鈥淚 tailored my business work towards animation, which I love,鈥 Deen says. 鈥淎bout six years ago, I created a new animation on Instagram every day. I鈥檝e been growing that ever since.鈥

Deen鈥檚 focus was to get his work seen by as many people as possible.

He鈥檚 accomplished one piece of that so far.

Deen created an animated piece for the New York Times called 鈥淚鈥檓 Going to Spoil Your Favorite TV Show.鈥

He also created a spot for Hulu called 鈥淪oPretty.鈥

If that wasn鈥檛 big enough, Deen was at the drawing table for the video for Steve Aoki鈥檚 鈥淒iferente鈥 featuring CNCO.

And did the animation for Linkin Park鈥檚 Mike Shinoda鈥檚 solo single, 鈥淎lready Over.鈥 His work can be found at .

sa国际传媒官网网页入口-based animator Dusty Deen works in his studio. Deen鈥檚 work has been seen nationally with projects for Hulu, Steve Aoki, Mike Shinoda and The New York Times.

鈥淎oki鈥檚 video has been seen almost 5 million times,鈥 Deen says. 鈥淚t blows my mind that I鈥檝e had the opportunities to do these projects.鈥

Deen went to Eastern New Mexico University, where he studied graphic design, as well as animation.

Living in Roswell before moving to sa国际传媒官网网页入口 over a year ago, he did local TV commercials and worked for PBS for a bit.

When it comes to inspiration, it鈥檚 simple 鈥 his children.

鈥淢y kids are inspiring and they are in some of my work,鈥 he says. 鈥淚 do music videos, and music is a huge inspiration in what I do. I鈥檓 inspired by sound. It鈥檚 really about getting my work in front of the right people鈥檚 eyes.鈥

While Deen has worked on some amazing projects lately, he says the door opened when he was working on a Richard Linkletter project.

It was there he met an abundance of animators.

鈥淚t opened up the world,鈥 he says. 鈥淎nimation is a lot of work. I wanted to find people that I could trust and hire. Having this opportunity, I was able to sign with a manager less than two years ago and it鈥檚 helped me get noticed.鈥

While the projects keep coming, Deen says he tries to maintain a 40-hour workweek.

鈥淪ome weeks it鈥檚 busier than others,鈥 he says. 鈥淲hen I鈥檓 not working on paid projects, I鈥檓 always going back to my storyboards and doing my own work.鈥

With more attention on his work, Deen is taking it project by project.

He鈥檚 had musicians reach out to collaborate on music videos for them.

鈥淢y ultimate goal is to keep doing what I do for a living,鈥 he says. 鈥淚 also don鈥檛 want to make the same project twice, so I challenge myself with every piece I do. Inspiration is everywhere and collaboration is becoming easier.鈥
