'No place' like the movies: ABQ-based filmmaker Holly Adams hosts film festival at Guild Cinema
Holly Adams has brought many stories to life as a writer and director.
Adams is gearing up to host the Holly Adams Film Festival at the Guild Cinema at 10:30 p.m. Saturday, May 18.
The festival will have a sizzle reel for her upcoming film, 鈥淣o Place,鈥� which will begin production this summer in New Mexico.

The short films she will show are 鈥淟eather Kittens Gone Bad,鈥� 鈥淪hadows of Waste鈥� and 鈥淏etaville.鈥�
Adams is still deciding on the fourth short film.
鈥淭his will be my first feature film,鈥� Adams says. 鈥淚鈥檓 also going to be showing four of my short films.鈥�
Adams says 鈥淣o Place鈥� is a Tarantino-style action crime road picture.
It tells the story of 15-year-old Willow, who escapes with her father鈥檚 pistol and cash after committing a heinous crime in revenge for enduring years of abuse at his hands.
Meanwhile, 17-year-old Joe has accidentally poisoned his obese mother and though he is flat broke, he鈥檚 got a Mickey Mantle baseball card worth millions.
The two meet each other at a gas station and flee their horrendous pasts, heading West.
With the law, Joe鈥檚 landlord and Willow鈥檚 uncles are hot on their heels.
The distraught teens disguise themselves as newlyweds to great effect.
Despite his resistance, Joe recognizes himself in Willow when he discovers that they are both on the run from abusive home lives yet still hold out hope for a brighter future.
Joe vows to buy themselves a home of their own with the money from the Mickey Mantle. But just yards away from the baseball card convention where he can cash in the Mickey, the law guns them down.
Through their ordeal, the teens discover the inexplicable resilience of life and that the home they were seeking was within each other all along.
Adams will also premiere the podcast that was the proof of concept for the film.
