Carlsbad Caverns resumes Lower Cave Tour
Carlsbad Caverns National Park has announced that the Lower Cave Tour is returning Jan. 10, and every Saturday after.
According to a Carlsbad Caverns Facebook post, visitors 鈥渕ust walk backwards down a 10-foot slick slope using a knotted handline then descend about 60 feet of ladders. Once down, you will squeeze through the Florida Keyhole, hike through large passages, stoop walk through a maze, and experience total darkness.鈥
The park advises the tour is not for those with a fear of heights, have poor night vision, or weak knees or other medical conditions.
Tickets for the three-hour Lower Cave Tour will be released 30 days prior to each tour date at recreation.gov.
The fee for the Lower Cave Tour is $20 for adults, and $10 for children, Senior and Access Pass holders. Tour participants must also purchase an entrance ticket to Carlsbad Caverns. The tour is open to children ages 12 and over, and participants under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
Helmets with headlamps and gloves will be provided.
