Gruet celebrates spring with three new releases
Holding a spring release party hasn鈥檛 necessarily been an annual tradition at Gruet Winery, but it felt more than appropriate this year.
鈥淚t just so happens that we have a bunch of new releases, and I was like, 鈥極h, let鈥檚 have a party and have fun and celebrate,鈥欌 Regina Wilson, Gruet regional manager, said. 鈥淭hat鈥檚 what we鈥檙e doing to showcase all these new wines.鈥
Gruet鈥檚 Spring Release Party will take place simultaneously at the winery鈥檚 sa国际传媒官网网页入口 and Santa Fe tasting rooms on Saturday, April 25. At these events, attendees will get to enjoy samples of Gruet鈥檚 newest sparkling and still wines. Additionally, there will be a 鈥済razing table鈥 that will likely include some charcuterie options as well as other fun pairings. As an added bonus, special event-only discounts will be available on bottles of wine.
One of those releases happens to coincide with the centennial celebration of Route 66. The Brut 66 is a sparkling wine that, coincidentally, is 66% chardonnay and 34% pinot noir. The bottle comes complete with a special label depicting the iconic Route 66 in sa国际传媒官网网页入口. That version is available exclusively at Gruet鈥檚 tasting rooms and will be a highlight of the upcoming release party. A wholesale version with a different label will be available through various retailers.
鈥淭his was harvested back in 2021. It laid on en tiraje for over three years,鈥 Carrie Gurule, Gruet head winemaker, said. 鈥淭he way that the dosage, everything just came about 鈥 the label with this, it鈥檚 just such a huge team effort.鈥
Wilson added, 鈥淭he Brut 66 is just really special. We love sa国际传媒官网网页入口. We love New Mexico and our roots and our history here. So it was a no-brainer to get to celebrate this with the local community.鈥
The team at Gruet is also excited about La Ch茅rie, a spritz that was crafted with M茅thod Champenoise wine and locally sourced honey from Los Poblanos Historic Inn & Organic Farm. The La Ch茅rie is 81% pinot noir and 19% chardonnay and spent 22 months en tirage. The wine will be available exclusively in the Gruet tasting rooms and at Los Poblanos locations.
鈥淚t smells beautiful. It tastes lovely,鈥 Gurule said. 鈥淭o be able to collaborate with Los Poblanos is always a fun, fun thing. Just working on this special dosage was really incredible. La Ch茅rie is 鈥榮weetheart, honey, beloved one.鈥 It has all those nice French meanings, and that definitely holds close to my heart, too.鈥
Gruet has also put together a release in conjunction with the United States鈥 250th birthday celebration, which will officially be recognized on July 4. The All-American Brut, a M茅thod Champenoise sparkling wine, has been created to help commemorate the occasion. The All-American Brut is 67% chardonnay and 33% pinot noir and spent 43 months en tirage.
鈥淲e鈥檝e got the Summer Olympics coming (in 2028) and we鈥檝e got (the World Cup in the U.S.) and all this really great fun American stuff happening, and so we did make a special label in celebration of that,鈥 Wilson said. 鈥淎lso a gorgeous, gorgeous wine, so we鈥檒l be showcasing that one (at the release) as well.鈥
MORE WINE EVENT FUN: D.H. Lescombes Winery and Tasting Room will host the Spring Fling Winefest at its Deming location on Saturday, April 25.
