Jazz, animals and hot air balloons: 7 events this week

St. Patrick鈥檚 Day is Tuesday, and if you want to get in the holiday spirit, Irish acoustic band L煤nasa will be playing two stops this week. Or try your luck at one of these other events.

Sounds of spring
Santa Fe Pro Musica will be performing Spring Orchestra Concert events at 4 p.m. Saturday, March 14, and 3 p.m. Sunday, March 15. The program will feature the world premiere of Aaron Helgeson鈥檚 鈥淪ing Your Troubles Quiet,鈥 Dave Grusin鈥檚 Suite from 鈥淭he Milagro Beanfield War,鈥 鈥淩issolty Rossolty鈥 by Ruth Crawford Seeger and more. Tickets are $26.80-$98.90 at sfpromusica.org. The St. Francis Auditorium at the New Mexico Museum of Art is located at 107 W. Palace Ave. in Santa Fe.

Celtic sounds

Irish acoustic band L煤nasa is bringing its Celtic sound to Santa Fe and sa国际传媒官网网页入口. First, at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, March 15, the group will play at the Lensic Performing Arts Center, 211 W. San Francisco St. in Santa Fe. Then, at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 16, L煤nasa will play at Fusion | 708, 708 First St. NW. Tickets for the Santa Fe show are $37-$66 at lensic.org; and $44-$49 for the sa国际传媒官网网页入口 show at ampconcerts.org. 

鈥楰eep It Saxy鈥

Vanessa Collier is bringing her 鈥淜eep It Saxy鈥 tour to New Mexico for two concert events. First, at 7 p.m. Friday, March 13, Collier will play at Unit B by Chocolate Maven, 821 W. San Mateo Road, Santa Fe. Then, she will play at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 14, at Fusion | 708, 708 First St. NW. Tickets for the Santa Fe concert are $44-$66, and $30-$35 for the sa国际传媒官网网页入口 concert, at ampconcerts.org.

Joining forces

Grammy-winning artist Robert Mirabal will perform with M茅lisande, a Qu茅b茅cois traditional folk artist, at 7 p.m. Friday, March 13, in a benefit concert to support 鈥淭he Children鈥檚 Hour,鈥 an internationally syndicated kids鈥 public radio program and podcast based in sa国际传媒官网网页入口. Tickets are $34.64 at holdmyticket.com. The Historic Old San Ysidro Church is located at 966 Old Church Road in Corrales.

It鈥檚 a jungle out there

The New Mexico Philharmonic鈥檚 final Power Concert of the 2025-26 season will roar to life at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 15, with 鈥淐arnival of the Animals & More.鈥 The program includes Johann Sebastian Bach鈥檚 Concerto for Two Keyboards in C Major, BWV 1061, selections from 鈥淟e triomphe de l鈥檃mour鈥 by Jean-Baptiste Lully, and concludes with Camille Saint-Sa毛ns鈥 鈥淐arnival of the Animals.鈥 Tickets are $2-$36.11 at holdmyticket.com. The Immanuel Presbyterian Church is located at 114 Carlisle Blvd. SE.

Honoring DeAnna

Opening at the Millicent Rogers Museum, 鈥淗onoring DeAnna Autumn Leaf Suazo,鈥 a special exhibition honoring the life and work of the Din茅 and Taos Pueblo artist. Suazo, who was killed in 2021, blended traditional Plains Indians ledger art with figures inspired by Japanese manga. The exhibit opens from 5-7 p.m. with a public reception on Thursday, March 19. The exhibit runs through March 1, 2027. The museum, located at 1504 Millicent Rogers Road in Taos, is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday-Tuesday. Admission is $15-$20, with discounts for qualified individuals, at millicentrogers.org.

Eyes to the skies

The 40th Annual St. Patrick鈥檚 Day Balloon Rallye takes to the skies from 7 a.m. to noon Friday, March 13, Saturday, March 14, and Sunday, March 15. The event features a morning balloon launch, remote control balloon launch, car show and more. The Balloon Rallye takes place at 305 Eagle Lane in Belen.
