The saʴýҳ Astronomical Society and the Rio Rancho Astronomical Society are hosting a celebration of Astronomy Day from 5-10 p.m. Saturday, April 25. The star party will feature solar observing, a speaker on comets, refreshments, observation of deep-sky objects and more. The event is free. For a complete schedule of events, visit taas.org. ‘Light Upon the Water’

Coro Lux is presenting the New Mexico premiere of “Oceana” by Javier Farías at 4 p.m. Sunday, April 26, as part of its “Light Upon the Water” concert. “Oceana,” which will be sung in Spanish, features 11 poems by the Nobel Prize-winning Chilean poet Pablo Neruda. A musical duo

The Placitas Artists Series is hosting chamber music duo David Felberg on violin and Luke Gullickson on piano at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 26. The program will include Somei Satoh’s “Birds in Warped Time II,” Johannes Brahms’ Sonata in G major for violin and piano, and Maurice Ravel’s “Tzigane.” At 2 p.m. there will be a pre-concert talk. Tickets are $30 at placitasarts.org. Las Placitas Presbyterian Church is located at 7 Paseo de San Antonio in Placitas.

Need something green?

There are two plant-worthy sales this weekend. The ARCA Foundation is hosting its annual Geranium Sale from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, April 25, at the La Paloma Greenhouse. Proceeds from the sale support programs and services for individuals with intellectual, developmental, and cognitive disabilities across New Mexico. ARCA’s La Paloma Greenhouse is located at 181 E. La Entrada in Corrales. saʴýҳ Garden Center is hosting the Spring Plant Sale from 1-6 p.m. Friday, April 24, and 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 25. Plants from the Xeric Garden Club, New Mexico Dahlia Society and the saʴýҳ Aril and Iris Society will be available, along with homegrown tomatoes, bedding plants, annuals and more. Admission and parking are free. The saʴýҳ Garden Center is located at 10120 Lomas Blvd. NE.

Conjunction junction

Grammar guru Ellen Jovin and filmmaker Brandt Johnson are coming to the Guild Cinema with “Rebel with a Clause” at 3 and 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, and Wednesday, April 29. Before each screening, Jovin will set up her Grammar Table ready to debate the English language. Tickets are $15 at guildcinema.com. The Guild is located at 3405 Central Ave. NE.

‘Stories that Sing!’

The Young Voices of the Santa Fe Opera are presenting “Stories that Sing! An Operatic Musical Showcase” at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 25, at The Lensic Performing Arts Center. The concert will feature the world premiere of “The Lovesick Skunk,” composed by New Mexico’s Beth Ratay, along with works from “Don Giovanni,” “Die Fledermaus,” “Into the Woods,” “Spamalot,” “The Marriage of Figaro” and more. The concert is free, but reservations must be made at santafeopera.org. The Lensic is located at 211 W. San Francisco St. in Santa Fe.

Ready for takeoff

saʴýҳ Little Theatre is bringing the Tony Award-winning comedy “Boeing Boeing” to stage. Set in the 1960s, Bernard lives in flat in Paris while juggling three airline stewardess fiancees. Hijinks ensue when his friend Robert visits and all three ladies land in the city at the same time. The curtain raises at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 24, Saturday, April 25, Friday, May 1, Thursday, May 7, Friday, May 8, and Saturday, May 9; 2 p.m. Sunday, April 26, Sunday, May 3, and Sunday, May 10; and 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 2.
