SNAP recipients eligible for discounted hunting, fishing licenses

The New Mexico Department of Wildlife announced New Mexico residents that receive Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program benefits are eligible for a 25% discount on hunting and fishing licenses.

鈥淭his discount will help make hunting and fishing more accessible to thousands of New Mexicans,鈥 Mike Sloane, department director, said in a news release. 鈥淲ith this discount, eligible participants will have increased accessibility to healthy, natural food sources.鈥

The New Mexico Health Care Authority will provide NMDW with a list of current SNAP recipients between Jan. 1-10. Those who become eligible for SNAP benefits after Jan. 10 must visit one of the department offices in sa国际传媒官网网页入口, Santa Fe, Roswell, Las Cruces or Raton to verify eligibility before purchasing discounted licenses. Refunds will not be provided for full-price license purchases made before eligibility verification.
