APD identifies man shot by officers during Sunday night domestic violence call in SW sa国际传媒官网网页入口

sa国际传媒官网网页入口 police have identified the man shot by officers during a domestic violence call Sunday evening as 53-year-old Dwayne Wilson.

Wilson is in critical but stable condition at a local hospital after being shot once in the abdomen around 7:22 p.m. outside a home in the 6200 block of Gonzales SW.

On Sunday, Wilson鈥檚 girlfriend told police he had been drinking and became violent, punching her four to five times, grabbing her by the throat and restraining her for several minutes, an sa国际传媒官网网页入口 Police Department spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said that when Wilson鈥檚 girlfriend tried to flee toward a neighbor鈥檚 home, he dragged the woman back inside. She eventually snuck out and reached safety, but Wilson then sent her threatening messages saying he would kill her, the spokesperson said.

Officers went to the Gonzales Road home and made repeated public address announcements attempting to get Wilson to surrender. Wilson came outside several times without a shirt, with a firearm visible in his waistband.

Officers told him to leave the gun inside, but at 鈥渟ome point in time when officers were making contact with him when he was outside of the front door, he did remove the firearm from his waistband,鈥 APD Chief Cecily Barker said during a Sunday night press conference. The man did not fire his weapon at any time.

Barker said Wilson had a criminal history and had 鈥渟pent at least 10 years in prison after a 20-year sentence.鈥

The APD spokesperson said Wilson is being charged with kidnapping, false imprisonment, aggravated battery against a household member by strangulation, four counts of battery of a household member and telephone harassment. He will be booked into the Metropolitan Detention Center after he is released from the hospital.
