The panel tabled the decision to 鈥渁llow the board time for due diligence.鈥 The district declined to further explain what that meant.

Up for consideration are former Des Moines Public Schools Superintendent Thomas Ahart, who spent 10 years in that job, and current APS Chief Operations Officer Gabriella Blakey, who鈥檚 spent roughly 20 years with the district on and off.

As was the case on Wednesday, there鈥檚 no guarantee the board will deliver a verdict on Monday. The panel鈥檚 agenda for the meeting includes a review and discussion of finalist applications and 鈥渄iscussing a possible contract for the next superintendent.鈥

The board has the same item on the agenda for its Feb. 7 meeting.
