It's down to two: One of the remaining APS superintendent finalists has dropped out

One of the three finalists to become sa国际传媒官网网页入口 Public Schools鈥� next superintendent has dropped out of consideration, the district announced Monday.
Over the weekend, Metro Nashville Public Schools Chief of Academics and Schools Mason Bellamy informed the school board鈥檚 search firm that he was no longer pursuing the job, according to a news release.

Bellamy cited 鈥減ersonal circumstances鈥� as his reason for withdrawing, per APS. He did not return a Journal call requesting comment on Monday.
鈥淲e are disappointed, but understand circumstances can change,鈥� school board President Danielle Gonzales said in a statement. 鈥淲e want to thank Dr. Bellamy for the time, effort, and energy he invested in this process and wish him the best.鈥�
Former Des Moines Public Schools Superintendent Thomas Ahart and APS Chief Operations Officer Gabriella Blakey are still in the running to succeed current Superintendent Scott Elder, whose contract ends June 30. Elder has led the district for about 3陆 years.
After a marathon of public forums scheduled next Tuesday, the board is set to meet behind closed doors the following day to make its pick on the district鈥檚 next superintendent.
