Presbyterian to give newborns Route 66 onesies to commemorate centennial
Hospital expects nearly 3,000 babies to be born in 2026, Presbyterian spokesperson says
Babies born at Presbyterian Hospital this year will get to be a part of the Route 66 Centennial celebration.
All newborns will receive a commemorative onesie that reads: 鈥淏orn on Route 66.鈥
鈥(They) offer families a tangible reminder of their baby鈥檚 special place in sa国际传媒官网网页入口鈥檚 Route 66 story,鈥 Presbyterian Healthcare Services spokesperson Kourtney Mu帽oz said in a news release.
The gift is part of the city's of the Mother Road鈥檚 100th birthday. It was born, if you will, on Nov. 11, 1926, with the creation of the U.S. highway numbered system.
鈥淩oute 66 is part of sa国际传媒官网网页入口鈥檚 identity, and so are the families we serve every day,鈥 said Dr. Rebecca Vasilion, Women鈥檚 Program medical director, in a statement. 鈥淭his is a joyful way to honor the city鈥檚 history while celebrating new life and welcoming our youngest community members.鈥
The hospital anticipates nearly 3,000 babies will be born this year. As of Wednesday, 405 newborns have been delivered in 2026, Mu帽oz said.
"Route 66 (had) a special way of captivating people from the very beginning, and these keepsake onesies celebrate even our newest arrivals as part of sa国际传媒官网网页入口's enduring legacy," city Department of Arts & Culture Director Shelle Sanchez said.
