State Police fatally shoot man following Torrance County manhunt

NMSP say the person killed shot at a deputy in the Torreón and Manzano area

New Mexico State Police shot and killed a man accused of firing at a Torrance County Sheriff’s Office deputy Tuesday afternoon.

The man shot at the deputy near N.M. 55 in the Torreón and Manzano area, according to a news release. He then fled the scene, prompting a search.

State Police said the man died at the scene following the manhunt. No deputies or officers were injured.

Authorities did not immediately identify the person killed or provide additional details.
