Top APS official returns after weeks on paid leave

After just about three weeks, a top sa国际传媒官网网页入口 Public Schools official returned to work after being placed on paid administrative leave while the district investigated anonymous whistleblower complaints alleging misconduct.

Richard Bowman, APS鈥 chief information and strategy officer, was placed on leave Oct. 16 and came back to work Nov. 6. The investigation into his alleged misconduct, the district confirmed, found no evidence to support the claims.

鈥淢y reputation is incredibly important to me. And being falsely accused like this has been an extraordinarily painful experience,鈥 Bowman said.

鈥淚 am honored to continue to serve the sa国际传媒官网网页入口 community helping children achieve their potential and equipping them and APS staff with the tools they need to succeed,鈥 he added.

APS declined to give any details on the investigation, citing policy not to discuss personnel matters, but said its outcome 鈥渁ligns with our expectations, given that Dr. Richard Bowman is recognized locally and nationally as one of the district鈥檚 foremost experts in his field.

鈥淲e are grateful for Dr. Bowman鈥檚 valuable contributions as he continues to guide the district through the challenging technology landscape for our students and staff,鈥 an APS spokesperson added in a statement.

Bowman has been with APS since 2016, according to the district website.
