In a second consecutive highly impressive performance, sa国际传媒官网网页入口 boxer Jason Sanchez defeated the Dominican Republic鈥檚 YeYery Castillo by third-round TKO on a King鈥檚 Promotions card Saturday night in El Paso.

Sanchez improved his record to 18-6 with 10 wins by knockout. Castillo, who lost his second bout in a row 鈥 both by knockout 鈥 is 14-2 with 11 KOs.

The bout at the El Paso County Coliseum was the second on a three-fight contract Sanchez signed with King鈥檚 Promotions boss Marshall Kauffman. In Sanchez鈥檚 first fight with Kauffman, he upset previously unbeaten King鈥檚 Promotions contract fighter Julian Gonzalez (16-0-1 entering the bout) by split decision.

In an interview last week, Sanchez said he was hoping an impressive victory in El Paso would lead to a greater opportunity in his third contracted bout with Kauffman.

Impressive it was.

After two competitive rounds, Sanchez overwhelmed Castillo in the third 鈥 flooring him twice before referee Rocky Burke called an end to the slaughter just 1 minute, 14 seconds into the third.

The bout marked Sanchez鈥檚 return to his favored featherweight (126-pound) weight class. Four of his previous five bouts, including the Gonzalez fight in Philadelphia last June 27, were contested at the super featherweight limit of 130 pounds.

NO THANK YOU: Las Cruces鈥 Ariana Carrasco won her pro-debut fight in El Paso on Saturday, or at least had her hand raised. Yet, she still hasn鈥檛 thrown a punch as a professional.

According to Facebook posts from attendees, Ohioan Tennielle Young, in hearing Carrasco鈥檚 impressive amateur record recited during pre-fight announcements, opted out of the scheduled four-round bout.

Young鈥檚 listing on shows only one bout, a loss by TKO, as an amateur. Carrasco鈥檚 listing shows a 31-8 amateur record 鈥 by no means complete 鈥 and multiple national-level USA Boxing and Golden Gloves titles.

ANOTHER SANCHEZ: As reported by , Las Cruces鈥 D鈥橝ngelo Sanchez (5-1, three KOs) defeated Moriarty鈥檚 Austin Lewis (1-2, no KOs) by unanimous four-round decision on Saturday鈥檚 undercard in El Paso.

Sanchez, no relation to Jason, scored a third-round knockdown. All three official scorecards read 40-35.
